Atlanta-based logistics giant United Parcel Service (UPS) and travel and hospitality conglomerate Enterprises on Thursday announced a joint venture in the capital to launch Movin, a new logistics brand for the Indian market.
The brand will offer a range of extensive express and premium service coverage across India with a portfolio of B2B domestic services including a day-definite as well as express, time-definite solutions which will give businesses better predictability and greater competitiveness to integrate into the global value chain.
“India’s growth towards a $5 trillion economy will be largely supported by the growth of local businesses and logistics which are key contributors to India’s economy,” JB Singh, Director InterGlobe Enterprises stated. “We are certain that our foray into logistics with Movin will contribute significantly to the rapid development and growth of businesses in India. We look forward to enabling and facilitating trade, commerce and employment through this venture,” he added.
Movin claims to build technology-backed solutions that will link companies across the country to international businesses with speed, reliability and enhanced digital customer experience. It aims to offer seamless integration across air and ground networks to B2B customers, enabling an uninterrupted flow of goods backed by consistent, predictable and responsive operations.
“Together we will local businesses to grow and connect them to trade opportunities around the world,” Ufku Akaltan, UPS President Indian subcontinent, Middle East and Africa said.
Adding how the brand will address the diverse needs of the customers, Akaltan said Movin would enhance ease of use and reliability in logistics to a great extent. “That is the opportunity and help that we will provide.”
Elaborating on India’s growth and its stupendous performance in exports in the last fiscal, he stated that India is becoming a driving force for many of the supply chains. “India is participating more actively in global trade and that is being seen in the growth numbers,” he said.
Headquartered in Gurugram, the brand is launching operations in a phased manner and will ramp up operations in July 2022 starting with Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Bengaluru. More expansions to other metros and cities across the nation will follow suit.
The name Movin is the combination of Movement and India and it hopes to offer better efficiencies, stronger distribution channels, advanced technology and application of global best practices.
UPS posted a revenue of $97.3 billion in 2021, offering a range of integrated logistics solutions for customers in over 220 countries and territories.
